How Does Local Storage Filter Static and Dynamic Recordings?

How to use the playback timeline to distinguish and filter between static (continuous) and dynamic (motion-triggered) recordings.

The local playback interface provides a timeline view that helps you quickly identify and filter different types of recordings.

Reading the Timeline

The playback timeline uses color coding to distinguish recording types:

  • Static recordings (continuous): shown in one color on the timeline
  • Dynamic recordings (motion-triggered alarm recordings): shown in a different color on the timeline

By looking at the color distribution on the timeline, you can quickly locate the time segment you need.

Filtering by Recording Type

In the playback interface, you can select the recording type you want to view:

  • All recordings — displays both continuous and alarm-triggered recordings
  • Alarm recordings — displays only recordings triggered by motion detection or other alarm events

Select the appropriate filter to quickly find the footage you are looking for.
